Not only CAN you use them – you SHOULD be using them.
“It’s going to be too greasy. It’s going to make me break out. I’m already oily…” etc. etc. etc. Look, we’ve probably all said one of these statements (or at least thought about it), am I right?
Face oils in skincare products tend to be extremely misunderstood, even getting a bad reputation at times, when in reality, they are a holy grail in helping offset a multitude of skin concerns. From nourishing to brightening, supporting a healthy skin barrier to improving texture and even helping pesky imperfections (we’re looking at you breakouts), we’re here to help debunk (3) common myths and break down some of the oils we use at No, Thank You. Let’s glow!
Myth 1: Face oils are only meant for moisturizing
Wrong! Yes, many face oils are intended to provide moisturizing benefits and support skin’s natural barrier (which boasts its own oil composition), but let’s explore some of the other benefits certain oils can provide to skin. Hint: you’ll find them in many of our products 😉
Carrot Seed Oil – high in beta carotene and vitamins B, C, D, and E to promote a visibly brighter complexion
Rice Bran Oil – rich in antioxidants and fatty acids for a more even-toned complexion
Safflower Oil – rich in vitamin E and antioxidants, it won’t congest pores and may help with excess sebum production for blemish-prone skin types
Baobab Seed Oil – Vitamins A, D, E and F help smooth, soften and rejuvenate skin
Raspberry Seed Oil – high in vitamin A, helps offset oxidative stress and may help promote collagen production
Rosehip Seed Oil – contains a high concentration of vitamin A to visibly plump and rejuvenate while helping restore elasticity
Pomegranate Seed Oil – Rich in vitamins A and C, helps fend off environmental stressors to prevent collagen degradation
Squalane – antioxidant-rich, it helps support skin’s natural moisture barrier to defend against oxidative stress
CBD + CBDa Oil – packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits, it nourishes, soothes and helps with aches & pains
You didn’t think we’d leave out full spectrum CBD benefits, did you?
Myth 2: I can’t use a face oil if I’m already oily
Probably the most common of all myths. Our skin is naturally made up of oils and lipids – they’re essential in maintaining a strong and healthy skin barrier. Without them, we’d be overly dry and susceptible to premature aging and increased sensitization. In a world of “more is more”, we tend to strip our skin of these natural oils by using too many actives, over-cleansing or incorporating high-alkaline products.
As a defense mechanism to restore moisture, our skin can kick oil production into overdrive causing us to think we’ve fallen into the “oily skin type” category when in reality, it’s oil that we need to get back in balance! By applying lightweight, nourishing oils topically, our skin will naturally balance itself out and get back that healthy, balanced glow we’re striving for without the grease and need for blotting papers.
And PS… YES, even those without compromised barriers who just naturally fall on the oily-side will see a balancing benefit from topical use. That’s why we include lightweight CBD oil to hydrate the skin barrier. 🙂
Myth 3: They’re too heavy and greasy
Again, not all skin oils are created equal. While yes, there are some oils that are extremely large in molecular size that sit on the surface and don’t absorb as easily, don’t let this get you down! There are plenty of oils, including CBD + CBDa oil that we use at No, Thank You, that are lightweight, fast-absorbing and often skin-identical. What this means is that they are similar in composition to the oils your skin naturally produces and will easily penetrate – you just need to use the right ones!
CBD face oils in skincare should not be feared! They should be celebrated for all the benefits they can provide because after all, they are essential components of our skin’s natural composition! From moisturizing and soothing, to brightening and refining, they’re intended to support skin health and function while offsetting signs of distress and premature aging.
All skin types can benefit from full spectrum CBD oils benefits, even the most sensitive or blemish-prone as long as you’re using the right combination.
