Finding time for self-care can be extremely difficult…
especially during this time of the year when you’re a holiday shopper. Why? Because when most of your time and money is spent on everyone else, it’s hard to prioritize yourself. We’re left with little to no room for our own needs, leaving us exhausted by the end of December. The irony: prioritizing yourself is critical to achieving success in every other realm of life. Remember, we can’t afford to not practice self care. It’s a gift within itself.
As we continue to look for new and innovative ways to care for ourselves during the holiday season, we at No Thank You have a couple of solutions: thrift shopping and, of course, skincare!
As mentioned above, holiday shopping is the perfect way to redirect your self care while focusing on everyone else. Rather than shopping at your local mall or retail store, consider thrifting as an option. You might be asking “The thrift store? Why should I go there?” The thrift store is your go-to place to find hidden treasures for great prices. Even while shopping for other people, you can escape in the endless racks of color coordinated garments and items.
When it comes to holiday thrifting for others, communication is key! Make sure your loved ones are open to receiving secondhand gifts. Don’t assume that they value thrifting just as much as you do. Once they’re on board, get creative! Find gifts that cater to their personalities or desires. This level of thinking can be very soothing to the creative soul.
If cleansing is part of your self care routine, you can donate some of your older or unused holiday gifts to a secondhand store before shopping. Rule of thumb: Make sure these items are in top notch shape before donating. Uncertain? Don’t hesitate to contact the store for clarity.
“Now that I’m at the thrift store, what do I buy?”
Remember, think about their personality and desires. If they enjoy fashion, consider a vintage jacket or shirt. If they enjoy interior decorating, try an antique vase or framed art. The possibilities are endless! Plus, you’ll have fun while doing it.
Like the old saying goes, when you look better, you feel better. One of the easiest ways to take care of yourself during the holiday season is to manage your skincare routine. Although appearance may not be a major concern, you don’t want to go out shopping looking like yesterday’s bad news.
Everyone’s skin is different, and requires a certain level of maintenance to sustain itself. That said, create a skincare routine that works for you. Think about it: You know yourself best. What does your skin look like in the morning, throughout the day, and in the evening? Do I have normal, dry, oily, or combination skin? What do these even mean? Remember, utilize all your resources, like us!
Here at No Thank You, we offer a variety of CBD concentrated products to keep your skin intact. As mentioned in a previous blog post, “A Guide To Why NTY Uses CBD & What It Does in Our Skincare,” most newcomers can follow this three-step formula using the following products: A Cleanser For Anytime for your morning and evening cleanse, An Oil For Day to provide initial moisturizing and a strong combination of CBD & Vitamin C oil, followed by moisture-locking with A Mask For Night. Now that we have your mini self care routine underway, your holiday shopping experience should be a little more enjoyable this time around. Just remember to prioritize yourself in the midst of all the chaos.
