May is Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, but these local AAPI-owned Brands & Businesses are some of our go-to’s all day, every day! Whether you’re looking for some sweet treats, help with your podcast or even a new home, we’ve got you covered!
Check out some of Team NTY’s personal favorites and recommendations below:
Sachi.LA Coffee Shop
Local coffee shop, owned by two Japanese sisters. The coffee is incredible, especially the Sachi special. It also has a cute gift shop, where they sell plants, beautiful Japanese pottery and puzzles. There is a really cool record store next door.
Dale Corpus Real Estate
Dale is an amazing realtor and business-owner in the Bay Area if ever in the market for real estate or financial investment advice. He and his team are super-personable, professional and extremely knowledgeable. Even if you’re just looking for some advice, he has an awesome podcast you can check out!
Teresa Ngo and her father bought the now 40 year-old store in the early 2000s and have transformed it into a local favorite and celebrity destination. Family run, friendly staff, and AMAZING donuts!
OMG the baked goods here are so good, especially if you like Filipino treats! Whenever I’m in Downtown Pleasanton I have to pop in and get an Ube pastry (my favorite is the Ube Mamon). The quality is next-level since the owner Rina has such an extensive culinary background including The Four Seasons in Maui and always 30 years in the Army in the Food Service areas!
On Air Brands
On Air Brands was founded by Erik Cabral and is an amazing resource for anyone looking to create and produce podcasts! His team is super well-versed in Social Media Marketing and can promote the content in-house to help save some of the headache. Check him out.
Color Nails Bar
- Based in: NYC, NY
- IG: @colornailsbarnyc
Known for creative and detailed nail art, Color Nails Bar has become a NYC must-visit destination! More than just a manicure, go here to get completely customized works of art on your nails. The level of detail and creativity is second to none!
It’s in the name. Killer noodles has KILLER noodles! I love trying different ramen spots but this one is the best. My favorite is the Tokyo Style, standard numbness and spiciness (be careful, the standard is HOT!). The aesthetic is super cute and the wait staff is always very friendly! Try it out!
Hurry Curry of Tokyo
LA’s original Japanese curry spot. If you want something on the lighter side, try the chicken or vegetable curry. If you’re planning to treat yourself, the Katsu curry here is second to none! Tucked in a strip mall (like all good things in Los Angeles), Hurry Curry won’t disappoint!
No, Thank You Skincare
I mean, of course! Even before working with the brand, I had heard buzz about the products when I was looking for CBD skincare online and loved Zain’s story as a Pakistani-American who took charge of her destiny first in finance, and then in skincare!
