Yes, it serves a purpose. No, it doesn’t get you high.
We figure we’d just address the elephant in the room with that headline. So to be clear, the only high you’ll experience when using this powerhouse ingredient is the admiration you’ll have for your skin once you begin using it. Let’s break down what it is, why you’ll love it and what it’s going to do for that gorgeous face of yours.
CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is a chemical extracted from the cannabis sativa plant. This buzzworthy ingredient has found its way into virtually every step of our beauty routine, but does anyone really know why? We do and we’re here to share the wealth! Aside from all its skin benefits, CBD complements other ingredients in your favorite products. This means you can easily and effortlessly incorporate it into your current routine without having to compromise what you’re already using and loving.
Since CBD is a particular compound extracted from the cannabis plant, we repeat: no, it will not get you high. Instead, research suggests that CBD, along with several other components of the cannabis plant like CBDa, CBN, and CBG, possess properties that can help to protect, rebuild, and replenish your skin. But, be wary – not all CBD is created equally. There is a lot of misinformation regarding the ingredient due to the fact that its introduction into the world of skincare is still fairly new with often unclear regulations.
As promised, we’re here to give you the full, honest rundown on CBD and why you should include it in your day-to-day routine, whether that’s a self-care masking moment or you’re using our topical pain relief cream after a crazy workout.
What do you mean by “full-spectrum”?
Psst… This is a big one and important to remember. No, Thank You uses full-spectrum CBD, which means during the extraction process, all of the cannabinoids from the plant are kept intact and uncompromised. The purpose of this is so that they can work synergistically with CBD to provide the most optimal results. We briefly touched on a couple earlier, but some of these other cannabinoids include:
- Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA) aka The Superstar Anti-Inflammatory
- Cannabicromene (CBC)
- Cannabidivarin (CBDV)
- Cannabigerol (CBG)
- Cannabinol (CBN)
Pro-Tip: If it’s not Full-Spectrum CBD, it’s Broad-Spectrum; CBD that doesn’t contain a full-range of cannabinoids and is not as effective or performance-driven.
But I see “THC” listed on your packaging… Are you SURE I won’t get high?
Excellent observation but still the same answer as before – nope! Federal requirements stress that CBD products cannot contain more than 0.3% THC. At such low levels, you’re avoiding any risk of a high and instead get to benefit from all the other properties.
Also, it’s important to note that when applied topically, CBD binds to the body’s local endocannabinoid receptors** and works ONLY where applied. Since the molecule size is so large, it does not (and physically can’t) absorb into your bloodstream and bind to receptors in your brain (aka get you high).

The Skin Benefits
The moment you’ve all been waiting for: what it’s going to do for your skin! To keep it simple, let’s break it down into (3) buckets that benefit all skin types (even the most sensitive):
- Antioxidants = your skin’s BFFs. As an antioxidant, CBD can help diminish the appearance of wrinkles and uneven skin tone caused by environmental factors (we’re looking at you UV rays and pollution 🤬). It can help intercept these elements by capturing and/or transforming free radicals (the molecules causing damage to our skin), turning them into less active forms. By interrupting these reactions, CBD can help cut down oxidative stress. And what do we mean by oxidative stress? The reflection of an imbalance caused between oxygen reactive species (found in skin cells) and our body’s natural ability to detoxify or repair the damage these nasties cause. In less science-y terms: less oxidative stress results in regulated tissue growth and healthy-looking, glowing skin.
- Skin inflammation can look and feel a little different for everyone. Redness, irritability, even blemishes are all signs that your skin could use a little anti-inflammatory love. Researchers have found evidence to suggest that CBD reduces inflammation and pain in animals by directly affecting activity in the body’s endocannabinoid system. Anecdotal evidence suggests that it may have similar effects in humans to help reduce and target pain specifically. So when using our relief cream, you’ll not only get a relieving heating and cooling effect, but you’ll actually be soothing the pain itself. And when it comes to facial products, CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties can help to reduce visible inflammation in your face resulting in a reduced appearance of redness, signs of irritability and even imperfections associated with blemish-prone skin.
- When we hear “imbalance” as it pertains to skin, chances are one of the first things to come to mind is excess oil, dullness/dryness or *gasp* even a blemish. In addition to CBD’s well-known antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, research shows that it is effective in helping control the production of oil in our skin. When your glands are producing too little sebum, skin can look dry and lackluster; on the other hand, too much sebum can cause clogged pores which results in their enlarged appearance and potential zits. By incorporating an ingredient that has the potential to help regulate oil production, your skin can finally breathe a sigh of relief and achieve some much needed balance…. Which let’s be real, who doesn’t want a little more balance in their lives?
You may have been on the fence about CBD before reading this article, but we’re hoping we’ve helped put your mind at ease with all it’s amazing topical benefits. From instant pain relief and antioxidant support to helping reduce the appearance of redness and even excess oil, CBD is going to be your new go-to from head to toe.
